Summary
Citrix Systems, Inc. supports Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2, with the following Citrix products:
Citrix Presentation Server 4.0 on Windows 2003 R2
Citrix Password Manager 4.x on Windows 2003 R2
Citrix Access Gateway Advanced Access Control on Windows 2003 R2
Citrix Systems, Inc. ran tests to determine how Citrix products and their associated components performed on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2.
.NET Framework 2.0 should not be installed on machines where a Citrix console is installed, unless the workarounds in the
Issues section are implemented. .NET Framework 2.0 can be installed on all non-console machines, including clients. Another general support article on .NET Framework 2.0 will be released soon.
How to upgrade Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1 to Windows Server 2003 R2
Issues
The following issues were found while testing Windows Server 2003 R2:
1. The Access Suite Console is no longer able to properly communicate with Web Interface. The option to Create Sites is no longer available in the Common Tasks Pane of the Access Suite Console, and running discovery reports a warning which states Could not contact any Web Interface configuration servers. See CTX108104
Error: Could not Contact any Web Interface Configuration Servers ..or the (Create Site) option is not available..
2. The Citrix Password Manager Console is supported in environments running the Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 1.1, Service Pack 1. If any later version of the Microsoft .NET Framework is installed on a computer that has the Citrix Password Manager Console installed, the console displays an error message and does not run. See CTX108146
Citrix Password Manager Console Microsoft .NET Support.
3. Service Pack 2 for Windows SharePoint Services allows SharePoint and hence Citrix Web Interface for Microsoft SharePoint to utilize Version 2.0 of the Microsoft .NET Framework. This document details the steps required in order for Web Interface for SharePoint to function correctly. See CTX108178
How to Use Citrix Web Interface for Microsoft SharePoint with Version 2.0 of the .NET Framework.
4. MetaFrame Password Manager 2.5, Citrix Password Manager 4.0, Citrix Password Manager 4.1, and the Hotfix Rollup Pack for Citrix Password Manager 4.1 do not support Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. See CTX108538
Password Manager and .NET Framework 2.0.
MetaFrame Password Manager 2.5 Users may experience problems in the Admin Console UI after .NET Framework 2.0 is installed on the machine.
Citrix Password Manager 4.0 Problems in the UI (such as the Active Directory tree not being displayed and exceptions thrown), problems with the AKR/SSPR services and loading of user configurations in a console that runs on a non -.NET Framework 2.0 machine after the user configurations were added/modified from a console that was loaded with .NET Framework 2.0.
Citrix Password Manager 4.1 Upgrades from Password Manager 4.0 to Password Manager 4.1, with .NET Framework 2.0 installed prior to the upgrade might cause problems in loading User Configurations as in Password Manager 4.0.
5. If the Password Manager Console was installed on systems running Version 2.0 of the .NET Framework, the console may have behaved erratically, producing errors at various stages of operation. The issue occurred because the console only supports Versions 1.0 and 1.1 of the .NET Framework.
With this fix, the console prompts you to install the required version of .NET Framework rather than behaving erratically. See CTX108174
Hotfix MPM250W009 - For Metaframe Password Manager 2.5 [From MPM250W009][#127190].
6. Server File Type Association (FTA) does not work. Applications such as Notepad have no file types associated with them in the Management Console. Windows 2003 R2 adds a registry key in the file extension area of the registry that we were not handling correctly. See CTX109592
